Happy New Year! Whether you are celebrating with a large gathering or are relaxing at home, this is the time to treat yourself to a little sparkle and pop! Here is a fun idea to ring in the new year with festive party straw toppers.
These feature my Cupcake/Straw Toppers dies and stamps set and the Stencil Numbers die set both by Sizzix.
Start by using the smallest size of Stencil Numbers dies and position them on the back of a piece of low-tack tape. Place the dies as close together as possible.
Die cut the curved rectangle shape from the Straw Topper die set and position the number dies on top. Carefully flip this over to make sure all of the numbers will fit on the rectangle shape. Once everything is positioned, flip this back over and run this through your Big Shot machine.
Die cut another curved rectangle piece out of contrasting card stock and layer it behind the date die cut.
Next, die cut the shape with the two slits and the larger shadow shape.
Here’s a tip; I designed this straw topper to hold snuggly to a party straw so that it wouldn’t slide down into the drink, so the straw slits are very tight. To help fit this onto a straw, use a die pick to stretch the slits open before carefully inserting the straw.
It may seem tight but it does fit the thin party straws.
Apply liquid adhesive on the back side of the topper being careful to avoid adhering the straw to the topper.
Adhere the shadow layer to the back of the topper as shown.
Apply adhesive to the center band across the topper and attach the curved rectangle piece.
Happy new year and wishing you a year of happy crafting from LyndaCreates!
