My Gift and Gather collection for Sizzix is filled with dies and stamps to make gift giving easy all year long. Here’s another card that holds a surprise gift card for some lucky recipient. Just pull the tab at the top to reveal a gift card and pine needles stand up along the front.
This is created using my Gift Card Slider die by Sizzix. The larger die cuts the back of the card. To create the front slider shape, place the “Window Bottom” and “Plain Crease” dies inside the larger die and die cut together. The front of the card {shown as the printed, black shape below} has two crease lines. Fold the top crease line into a valley-fold towards the notch. Fold the middle crease line into a mountain-fold.
Die cut the slider piece using the die with the slight curved top. There is a crease line along the straight bottom edge. Fold and apply adhesive along the fold. Below shows the back of the slider piece. I added some heat embossing to the other side before attaching it to the card front {see next step below}.
Adhere the bottom fold of the slider piece to the bottom edge of the card front flap. In the photo below, the solid black slider piece is the back of the piece. It will be folded behind to appear behind the card front.
Fold the black slider piece through the card front opening. Turn the front of the card so that it is facing away from you and apply adhesive on both sides and along the bottom being careful so that the adhesives do not touch the slider piece.
Adhere the card front to the back along the edges with the slider piece moving freely between the layers.
I tied baker’s twine around the raised fold.
I added branches from the Holiday Greens die set. When adhering embellishments to the front flaps, apply adhesive only to the parts that touch the lower flap. Add pieces that extend above the lower flap, this will add dimension to your card but do not adhere anything to the upper flap. Do not extend pieces below the lower flap or they will drag when closing the card. Finally, I tied on some tiny bells for accents.
Finish by sliding a gift card inside. You can also write a greeting or embellish the inside of the card if you aren’t including a gift card. This die set also comes with words that pop up along the top of the folded piece. Fun and versatile all year long.
