Easy Holiday Gift Card Tag

If you have friends and family members that are hard to shop for on your gift list this season then here’s an easy solution. How about a gift tag that holds a gift card?

The tag is created by layering a die cut slotted tag on top of a solid tag and then inserting a gift card between them, easy, right?

Start by using my Pocket Tag die by Sizzix. Cut a solid tag {red and white tag in the photo} using just the tag die. Position the slotted die in the same tag die and cut it again to create the top part of the tag {Santa tag in the photo}.

Cut a 1 1/4″ strip of red paper and adhere it to the top tag. Die cut a lacy shape out of white card stock. I used the Cruzes y Bordes {Crosses and Border} die by Sizzix. Adhere this on top of the red strip. Trim and wrap the ends behind the top tag.

To create the gift tag, adhere the slotted tag to the solid tag by applying narrow, 1/8″ adhesive tape along both side, the bottom and ABOVE the slot on the back of the slotted tag. Adhere the slotted tag to the solid tag.

My Pocket Tag with Phrases set comes with clear stamps and coordinating dies. Here’s an easy way to align the die to the stamp to get an even border when die cutting. Stamp onto desired card stock and set aside. On a piece of scrap card stock, die cut the shape that matches your stamped image to use as a template. Position the template on top of your stamped image and secure in place with low-tack tape like washi tape. Place your die on top of the template until it rests inside the template opening. Now run this through your BigShot machine for a perfectly aligned die cut.

To finish my tag, I fussy cut one of the Santa faces from the background paper and adhered it with a foam dot. I also used a foam dot to layer the phrase. Finally, I tied on some silver bells, added a ribbon and the gift card and this is ready to give to someone special.
