Travel Journal Page

I am more of a “wanderer” than a “traveler” so perhaps I should be creating a Wander Journal. The difference is that the eventual destination is more random in spite of pre-planning. But this hasn’t deterred me from starting a journal {which has been difficult to just decide what kind of journal to start}.

Gathering supplies:

Supplies

I used supplies from several of my Sizzix product collections. Paper from my Tropicool Vibes paper pad, the compass rose from my Succulent Art Journal coloring book, my Map 3D embossing folder, “Wander” from my Photo Frame, Travel set and the Geo Locator shape from my Mini Album set. I also used thin, metallic surface by Rinea, Derwent watercolor pencils, Alcohol inks and applicator, a Tim Holtz adornment arrow and some adhesives.

3D embossing folders are thicker than regular embossing folders so you would only use one pad through the BigShot machine.

The metallic surface by Rinea gives crisp details.

I applied Tim Holtz Alcohol inks in Lettuce, Stream and Denim to the metallic surface.

coloring

My Succulent Art Journal coloring book is filled with illustrations of images that I designed to be cut apart and used individually or as a whole. The compass rose image was perfect for what I needed. I used watercolor pencils to color the compass rose and then fussy cut the shape.

Next, I cut a strip of paper from my Tropicool Vibes paper pad. I cut the paper piece to be the width of my page by 1 inch high. I die cut the word “Wander” and adhered a strip of the metallic surface behind the word to add contrast.

I die cut a red geo-locator shape from my Mini Album die set to repeat the red in the compass rose. I adhered everything to my journal page and added the metal arrow to repeat the metallic surface and to highlight where my journalling will begin. I will add words later.

I love how crisp the embossed map surface came out. The 3D Map embossing folder image is actually based on an old map of Los Angeles, my home town.

Hope you enjoyed this journal page. Wander freely!
