What do you get when you combine a tiny toucan and mini frames… a tropi-cool card of course! I used an Instax photo frame from my Photo Frame, Seasonal Borders die set and stamps and dies from my Toucan Sentiments set to create a mixed media friendship card.
I started with a piece of watercolor paper, an eye dropper {to add droplets of water}, a waterbrush and some Distress Ink in Peeled Paint, Peacock Feathers and Evergreen Bough.
I placed several, random drops of water on the paper and used the brush to add some Distress Inks.
I kept playing with it until I was happy with how the colors looked. I let this dry thoroughly.
I stamped the toucan and colored it using Distress Inks in Peeled Paint, Barn Door, Worn Lipstick and Wild Honey. I also stamped some Bird of Paradise shapes and colored them with Spiced Marmalade, Mowed Lawn and Dusty Concord Distress Inks. The Distress Inks can be used like watercolors.
Once everything was colored, I used the coordinating dies and my SideKick machine to cut out the toucan and bird of paradise shapes.
I die cut a frame using the Photo Frame, Seasonal Props die and a wood textured paper.
I die cut several colors of leaves from cardstock. Next, I mounted the watercolor background to a piece of folded kraft cardstock.
I used foam tape to adhere the frame to the background and stamped the sentiment directly onto the watercolor paper.
I layered several leaves and vines and only used one of the bird of paradise shapes. After it was assembled, I felt that it needed something sparkly so I added a few drops of fingernail polish which gave it the finishing touch.
I hope you enjoyed this card using dies and stamps from my Tropicool Vibes and Picture This! collections for Sizzix.
