Happy Mother’s Day! Today I’m sharing a technique tutorial showing how to stamp with glue and then adding gold foil. I’m using my Mother’s Day stamp by Sizzix for this card.
Supplies:
Mother’s Day stamps by Sizzix
Nuvo glue pen by Tonic
Gold foil transfer sheet
Watercolor paints
Watercolor paper
Water brush
Broad paint brush
StazOn ink
Stampers Secret Weapon by Sizzix
Begin by lightly stamping the image on watercolor paper. Keep the image off-center, down and slightly to the right.
With a larger brush, apply clean water to the top just where the flowers are stamped.
Using the smaller water brush, loosely apply paint on the flowers and let the colors flow.
Let this dry completely then apply water to the bottom “glass jar” areas.
Apply pale blue paint to the “glass jar” area. Let the paint flow loosely into the wet surface.
Let the paint dry completely. Shake the Nuvo glue pen as directed and brush the glue onto the clear stamp. Do not let the glue pool between raised areas. Be sure to have a baby wipe or damp paper towel handy to clean off the stamp after using.
Stamp the glue onto the painted surface.
If there are pools of glue on the surface, use a paper towel to quickly soak up the excess glue.
With the shiny side of the gold foil transfer sheet facing up, lay the foil on top of the stamped image and gently press the foil to make contact with the glue.
Gently lift one corner to see how much foil is transferring. Replace the foil and gently press more if you prefer more gold foil. Continue to lift and check different areas until you are satisfied with the results then remove the foil.
Stamp your sentiment in the upper left corner of the watercolor paper.
Trim the watercolor paper if necessary and adhere it to the front of a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ folded card.
Happy wishes for a wonderful Mother’s Day!
