Fall Felt Fox Cup Cozy

The weather is finally beginning to feel like Fall. On a brisk morning, I am so thankful for a good cup of hot coffee. What better way to share that warm feeling than to make a cup cozy for someone special.

I created this simple, no- sew cup cozy, I used my Fox die by Sizzix and a BigShot machine.

To make the wrap, I cut a 3 1/2″ x 12″ strip of soft Phoomph. This is a double-sided, dimensional adhesive designed to work with fabric, see details below. It comes in either soft or stiff {use soft for this project} and in several different colors. I also cut two pieces of fabric about 5 1/2″ x 14″. I used a Starbucks coffee sleeve as my template.

Peel off the white paper from one side of the Phoomph and adhere it to the wrong side of one piece of fabric. Turn this over and remove the white paper from the other side of the Phoomph and adhere it to the wrong side of the remaining fabric.

Open the coffee sleeve and use it as a template to cut out the shape from the fabric.

Cozy_folded

Fold the fabric to match the original shape of the folded sleeve. Glue or hand-stitch the fabric sleeve to form the cozy. Set aside.

Die cut just the head and tail shape from rust colored felt.

Die cut the face mask and tip of the tail from white felt.

Fox_die_cut3

Die cut the nose from a small piece of black felt.

To assemble the felt pieces; use fabric glue to adhere the mask, nose and tip of the tail to the body pieces.

Fox_face_stitch

After the glue is dry, hand-stitch the eyes with black thread to the white face mask.

Glue the face and tail to the front of the cup cozy allowing the tail to cover the nose and the cheek to cover the tail. Do not add any glue to the tips of the ears.

So simple, no sew, perfectly sharable gift for the Autumn season. Enjoy!
