We just got back from a week of glamping. I’m not quite sure if we glamped or camped but I do know that we had a wonderful time in the comfort of our motorhome. I was able to bring along my Sizzix Big Shot machine and my new line of Mini Photo Embellishment dies and had a wonderful time doing a little crafting, a little fishing, a little hiking and lots of relaxing. We were able to get the best campsite overlooking the river and surrounded by trees. See our motorhome tucked away in the trees.
Every day we were visited by a group of friendly deer seeking handouts.
I am a city girl so I am always thrilled when I can see the Milky Way at night or enjoy the Autumn colors of Aspen trees.
I love the mountains and this is my Happy Place. We hiked three hours to see this awesome view.
And then there is the relaxing calm of fishing on the lake. You can’t rush this so the very nature of fishing makes you slow down and relax. Of course, fishing with Dear Handyman is always an adventure but you would have had to have been there to appreciate his story.
Between the hiking, fishing and relaxing, I found time to use my new Sizzix dies and make an easy banner to share my instant photos. I brought along my Big Shot, my new Mini Photo Embellishment dies and a few accessories and set up a craft area in the great outdoors.
I would love to have this as my craft room all of the time although the squirrels and chipmunks were a bit territorial.
I used the color scheme from the My Mind’s Eye, Happy Camper set and brought cardstock in coordinating colors. I didn’t need a lot of supplies so this was easy to set up. The only other accessories I needed were scissors, adhesives and baker’s twine, {paper cutter, washi tape, paper clips and a pen – optional}.
I also brought my tiny FujiFilm Instax Share printer along. My dies are designed to embellish these small photos but they can also do so much more. The Instax Share printer is battery powered and creates its own local wifi signal so you can print photos from your SmartPhone anywhere, even in the forest.
Crafting can be messy but I was able to create so much with so little. I was very careful to leave no trace of my scraps around the campsite.
I printed my Instax photos, die cut the frames and words out of cardstock and then embellished everything using my dies.
My original inspiration when designing these dies was to help people easily share their special stories whether at a wedding, among best friends or even glamping in the woods. The fun thing about these dies is that the words and borders are interchangeable so there are so many possibilities. The three banners above are all cut using the same die but the one on the left is solid, the middle one has the word “Explore” die cut and the one on the right has a leaf border die cut. The smaller frames can also use the various words, borders or be left solid. There are four different styles of frames and all of the words and borders mix and match with each of them.
Because of their small size, these dies cut shapes that are also perfect for Planner Pages. I started with a piece of a map and added washi tape to the back for added strength. I trimmed the map to be the same size as the washi tape. Then I used a word die to cut the word “Adventure” out of the map. As another option, you can die cut the word out of any washi tape adhered to paper.
Here are just a few ideas of how to use these dies to embellish a Planner Page. The only problem with having an outdoor craft room is that you are exposed to possible rain clouds. I had to finish this page quickly, pack everything up and run into the motorhome before it started to rain.
This was all an adventure and I enjoyed every minute of it. We are home now and still relaxing. I miss the friendly deer and the sound of the river outside. I also miss seeing the Milky Way but it is nice to be back home again.

[…] Today I’m sharing how to use my many Sizzix Mini Photo Embellishing dies and stamps on planner pages. These dies and stamps were designed to embellish both the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 small, Polaroid-like photos as well as various planner pages. These fun shapes work well with or without photos. You can see one example of a planner page that I designed while glamping here. […]
