Distress Crayon Autumn Card – DCC Blog Hop

Welcome to the Designer Crafts Connection Blog Hop for September. This month’s theme is Fall {or Halloween}. I love the colors of Autumn although I don’t enjoy the shorter days. My project is a celebration of the colors and finding a new way to play with Tim Holtz’s Distress Crayons and his Birch Tree die by Sizzix.

I started with Tim Holtz Watercolor paper as the background.
Distress_Crayon_Assembly_steps1I used washi tape to create a slight border around the edge of the paper. The Birch tree die is slightly smaller than the watercolor paper and I wanted to keep the edge white {see next image}. The washi tape also held the paper in place for the next steps.

Distress_Crayon_Assembly_steps2I used the Distress Crayons set #1 on the textured side of the watercolor paper. I used the yellow, orange and green crayons with a touch of the pink on the lower part. Once I liked how the colors appeared, I used a water brush to blend the colors leaving some of the white texture showing. You can see the white edge of the paper after I removed the washi tape in the last image.

I die cut the Birch trees out of white Sizzix Paper Leather and adhered it on top of the colorful layer. You could ink the edges of the Birch trees but I chose to leave it white in contrast with the Distress Crayon colors.
