I love Summer. I love the long, warm days and the various sights and sounds that are all part of Summer memories. Summer is ice cold watermelons on a hot afternoon.
In honor of Summer memories, I made a mini Watermelon Bunting | Banner simply using washi tape and the Sizzix Paper Rosette die.
I began by cutting eight pieces of white, lightweight cardstock into strips of 1 1/4″ wide by 12″ long. I also measured and lightly marked 1/4″ and 3/8″ from one edge on each strip.
I adhered green washi tape along the 1/4″ marking on one strip and then added a second strip to the opposite side of the green washi tape. This leaves a gap between the two cardstock strips but it assures that the green washi tape is the same 1/4″ on each piece. Repeat this on all pairs of white cardstock.
Next I added strips of red washi tape leaving the 1/8″ white gap from the green tape. Trim away all excess tape.
Using the Paper Rosette die, align the green tape edge to the straight edge of the die shape. This allows the scalloped edge to be on the red tape. Die cut all of the strips and accordion fold.
The die also cuts round shapes to use as the base for the rosettes. Apply fast drying liquid glue to half of the circle then gather the rosette and adhere as shown. I tried using a glue gun but it dried faster than I could align my rosette so I found that Glossy Accents worked well.
Cut away the extra part of the round backing shape so you have clean half-circle rosettes with the green, smooth edge on the outer circle.
I glued the top edge of each rosette to a 1/4″ wide piece of white ribbon.
Happy Summer memories!
