Mother’s Day Coupon Book -Flashback

In celebration of Mothers everywhere, I am sharing a Mother’s Day coupon book on the Designer Crafts Connection Blog Hop for May. Making this for a Mom would mean so much and the coupons could be for a special shopping trip together, a relaxing pedicure or even the promise to do chores around the house.

I began with my Sizzix Pocket Page & Tag die. This die cuts a double-sided pocket page with a scalloped edge and ring binder holes. The holes are spaced so you could fit it inside a standard 3-ring binder as a little pocket. The die also comes with a tag shape that fits inside the pockets. I love all of the things you can do with this die.

For this project I used paper from my Cosmo Cricket stash. It is no longer available but any two-sided 12×12 cardstock would work perfectly. On the cover I made flowers using the Flowers, 3D die.

Here are the inside pages with their removable coupon tags.Pages1Pages2Pages3.jpg

I began with four sheets of double-sided cardstock. I also cut additional tags out of solid colored cardstock. I folded all of the pages along the crease lines.Step1

On the cover, I die cut the 3D flowers and lightly inked the edges. I adhered them to the cover and glued a small pearl bead to the center.step_cover_detail

I used foam dots to add dimension to some embellishments.step_page1

For the lace, I first stitched the lace to the cardstock and then used pink rick-rack to cover the stitching.

I love vintage buttons and use them wherever possible. The card that reads “Bon Appetit” had a straight edge along the top which did not match with the scalloped edge of the pocket so I used the buttons to hide the edge.

I used a scrap of zigzag paper to soften the edge of the straight red card. The brad was meant to read “WOW” but everyone knows that MOM is WOW upside down.Step_page4

I added a few bits of bling to the center of these flowers because moms sparkle.step_page5

I kept the last page very simple. I thought that this would be where you could add a note to thank Mom for everything she does. This could also be the page where you could include the gift certificate to the spa {hint, hint, in case my son reads this}.
