Starting to Stitch on the Inside Front Cover of the Slow Stitch Notebook.
In Part 4 of my Slow Stitch Notebook, I am starting on the inside front cover. I chose a gorgeous piece of thrifted hand-dyed silk as the background for my stitching.
The goal of this Slow Stitch Notebook is to give purpose to experimental creative stitchery projects. I had thrifted this beautiful piece of hand-dyed silk and wanted to make something special with it. I have also been wanting to try stitching organic shapes with bullion stitches and French knots. And finally, I also needed something beautiful for the inside front cover of my Slow Stitch Notebook. This was the perfect way to combine all of these goals while finding purpose for my stitching.
Using just four styles of embroidery stitches, I created beautiful, organic shapes following the patterns on the fabric. I experimented with a stitch called the Open Chain Stitch. I think I may have been stitching this backwards for a left-hander. Sometimes being ambidextrous can be confusing. My apologies if it is backwards. After watching the video, try the Open Chain Stitch in a clockwise direction if that helps. I also practiced many, many bullion stitches and countless French knots.
There is still so much more to stitch and explore. Please join me in this creative journey and let’s make something beautiful together!
