Experimenting with Distressing, Stamping, and Stitching Fabric for Exciting Results

In Part 1, I show you how to distress your background fabric, apply the stamped image on the fabric and use embroidery to color and shade the image. You will learn six simple stitches and enjoy the relaxing, mindful rhythm of stitching fabric. Explore a whole new way to enjoy stamping.

Later, in Part 2, you will learn about slow stitching and where to buy fabric stretcher bars for a lot less money. I also show how to mount the fabric for display and the finished piece reveal.

Used to create a more seamless line of straight stitches. Insert the needle into the stitch behind it to effectively split the previous fiber and create a more even blend of stitches.

A beautiful stitch to create leaves and flower petals

Versatile stitch to cover large areas

I did this stitch upside down so that the pointed part was upwards to appear like a small leaf. I also did an extra stitch in the middle to fill the center.

This illustration shows two wraps around the needle. I used three wraps for a larger French Knot.
