Give Your Handy Dad a Gift Tag Surprise
Surprise your handy dad with a clever gift tag that holds a gift card to his favorite hardware store. Super easy to make and so much fun to receive.
TOOLS
- Zip Gift Tag die
- Pegboard Shelfie die
- Tool Box Gift Card Holder die
- Die cutting machine
MATERIALS
- Card stock – wood texture, metallic for the tools, color for the word
- Gift card
- Liquid adhesive
SUPPLIES
Gather the dies and card stock needed. Don’t forget to have the gift card ready to include in the sealed Zip Gift Tag.

DIE CUTTING
Place the zipper shaped die into the upper edge of the large opening of the Zip Gift Tag. We positioned the zipper pull to open front left to right.
Place both die shapes, blade down onto the card stock and run it through your die cutting machine.

This is how the die cut zipper tag shape will look.

Die cut a piece of card stock using the Pegboard Shelfie large shaped die. This will have rows of holes.
Place the Zip Gift Tag die, without the zipper shape, onto the Pegboard shape and die cut the plain tag shape.
You now have the front and back shapes of the tag.

ASSEMBLY
Apply a narrow line of liquid adhesive around the back edges of the zipper tag, above the zipper and around the hole. Do not apply any adhesive on either side of the zipper pull area or below the zipper.

Lay the gift card on the back of the tag being careful to avoid the gift card touching any of the adhesive.

Lay the front pegboard tag on the back and securely adhere the two shapes.

EMBELLISHING
From metallic card stock, die cut the tools from the Tool Box Gift Card Holder die set. Die cut the handles for the saw and hammer from the same set and adhere to the tools.

Adhere the tools to the pegboard tag.
We die cut some small letters but you can also use stickers to add the word “DAD” to the tag.

OPENING
Dad will enjoy zipping open the tag and finding his gift card

OPTIONS:
We suggest adding a little Distress Ink around the edges to give it a worn look. Also, be sure and add a bit of small rope or twine to finish off the top of the tag.
