Die Cutting

Die cut one tag shape with the zipper die in place near the top of the opening in the tag die.

Die cut a second tag shape without the zipper die.

For this project the solid tag will be the front and the zipper tag will be the back.

Basics

Depending on whether the zipper die piece is facing left or right will determine which way the zipper will pull open.

When the zipper is completely opened the inserted gift card is revealed

The gift card can be easily removed

Assembly

Have your gift card ready. To get an idea of where you can apply the adhesive, position the gift card on the back side of the zipper tag as shown. Keep it centered away from the edges and the top hole. You do not want the gift card to touch any adhesive in the next step.

Remove the gift card and apply liquid adhesive on the inside edges of the zipper tag being careful to apply the adhesive close to the edges. Avoid adhesive around the sides and bottom of the zipper area. Apply adhesive around the tag hole and above the zipper.

Place the gift card onto the zipper tag being careful to avoid letting the gift card touch the adhesive.

Lay the front of the tag on top of the back and press around the edges to seal the two tags together with the gift card inside

Embellishing

We added a lacy die cut Heart Embellishment by i-crafter and adhered two die cut baby footprints from the Ribbon Rosette Baby Add-on die set. This makes an adorable baby shower gift tag

Insert a piece of green ribbon into the tag hole. Use baker’s twine to secure the ribbon. We used the i-crafter i-Grip Reverse Tweezers as an extra pair of hands to hold the twine in place while we tied the knot. Pretty handy!

Options

You can have the zipper tag in the front or the back of the finished tag. The solid tag is also a very useful size to use as a standard gift tag. Instax mini photos will also fit inside these Zip Gift Tags for an additional surprise.
