Here’s a fun way to display your Instax Mini photos with a unique succulent twist using paper, alligator clips and a bamboo skewer.
Supplies you will need: Sizzix Big Shot machine, 2D & 3D Succulent die set, Photo Frame & Words die set, Succulent Serenity paper pad, Instax Mini photo, bamboo skewer, alligator clip, liquid adhesive, Tim Holtz Tonic scissors {to cut the bamboo skewer}, decorative twine and coordinating buttons.
Begin by die cutting two Saguaro cacti shapes using my Succulents 2D & 3D die and paper from my Succulent Serenity paper pad. The paper is printed on both sides so use the solid green side face up for the first two die cuts. Note that the cactus is designed with one “arm” that is higher than the other. The first two die cut shapes will have the higher “arm” on the left.
Flip the green paper over so the pattern is facing up and cut two more Saguaro cacti shapes.
Fold the first two cacti shapes in half vertically with the green side facing inwards.
Flip the second two shapes over so that the green side is facing up and the higher “arm” is on the right. Fold these two shapes in half vertically with the green side facing inwards.
Move the center two cacti so that you will have them lined up with a high arm left, high arm right, high arm left and high arm right.
Group the left two shapes together with their low arms touching. Group the right two shapes together with their low arms touching. Using a die pick fold down the spikes on each piece so that they fold towards the green side of the cacti.
Apply liquid adhesive between the each two shapes where the low arms meet. Do not apply adhesive on the spikes.
You should now have two identical shapes with lower arms glued together. Using the Tonic scissors, measure and cut the bottom of a bamboo skewer the length of the cacti.
Adhere the alligator clip to the top of the bamboo skewer. Adhere the skewer and clip between the two sets of cacti.
Die cut the Photo Frame and Words shape out of green paper and adhere to the front of your Instax Mini photo.
Wrap twine around the bottom of the photo.
Adhere buttons as desired.
The Saguaro 3D succulent is now a sturdy photo stand to display your favorite mini photo.
