Have you ever wanted to try watercoloring but held back because you just weren’t quite sure of the technique? Well, here is a quick and simple tutorial that will give you a faux-watercolor look using my Elegant Succulent Textured Impressions embossing folder and Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

Below are the step-by-step details.

Supplies needed: Big Shot machine, Elegant Succulents Textured Impressions embossing folder, Succulents 2-D & 3-D, Succulent Serenity paper pad, Distress Inks in your favorite succulent shades, ink applicators, water spritzer bottle, twine and watercolor paper.

Apply ink into the “valley” side of your embossing folder. Spritz water lightly onto the inked embossing folder.

Insert a piece of watercolor paper into the embossing folder and close. Insert folder and roll through the Big Shot machine.

Remove from the folder and, using a paper towel, dab away any wayward ink spots.Wrap twine around the watercolor paper and adhere it to the front of a folded piece of cardstock. Die cut four small, three-pronged succulent pieces from the Succulents 2-D & 3-D set. Lightly ink the edges, curl the edges using a Die Pick. Glue the pieces together to form a small succulent and attach on top of the twine knot.

This technique works with any embossing folder so have fun experimenting.
