Check out the inspiring tag on the Tim Holtz, 12 Tags of 2016 site here. The beautiful tag for May was extra special because I was able to use the stamp set that I won in the March Challenge.May_Tag_2I love the way the colors came out using a combination of techniques that involved randomness and controlled application.

I followed Tim’s techniques fairly closely on this one. I first applied the Tissue tape and then stamped on top using Stazon black ink. Next, I used the Eye Chart Layering stencil and Texture Paste with a palette knife to create some raised surfaces. I let this dry overnight.Step1I applied Broken China and Forest Moss Distress stains onto the craft mat, spritzed with water then pulled the tag through the inks. The Tissue Tape resisted the ink. This was the random part of the applied color. I used a heat tool to dry. Next, I used an applicator to add a bit of Worn Lipstick and Wild Honey Distress Ink onto the stamped flower areas of the tag. This was the controlled application. Both techniques add a distinctive look.

I cut the word “Friendship” from the Idea-ology Alpha Parts Framed set and applied Antique Bronze Distress Paint to the surface. I let this dry completely.Step2I die cut flowers from the Sizzix Tiny Tattered Florals die and inked around the edges with Worn Lipstick and Wild Honey again. I rolled the flat spirals to create the dimensional flowers.  I distress a piece of vintage lace that I colored with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and water.Flowers_detailI attached the word to the tag and glued the lace beneath it. I used hot glue to attach the Tiny Tattered Florals.May_Tag_Finished
As a final touch, I used a pin to attach a heart with wings trinket to the ribbon on top. To add a little pink at the top of the tag, I distressed a piece of dusty pink ribbon to match the Worn Lipstick color of the roses. This tag was so simple and I love the results.
